Michael M.
Consumer

In 2015, I lost the ability to walk due to traumatic workplace stress. The stress was so pervasive that I had a mental breakdown. I was diagnosed with Major depression, Anxiety, PTSD with suicidal ideation, and brief psychosis, with a list of other mental health issues that impacted my day-to-day living. However, during this time of uncertainty and hopelessness came a light of support from a community resource called Maryland Family Resources. Maryland Family Resources provided a full spectrum of services, from mental health services that created the education about my mental illnesses, psychiatry services for medication, and in-house nursing to ensure my vitals like blood pressure were checked. Maryland Family Resources provided community integration through their psychiatric rehabilitation program, helping me to meet my appointment while providing social skills to enhance my recovery.
Thank You, Maryland Family Resources, for being that light at the end of the tunnel. Today, I am close to receiving my doctorate in education with a focus on counseling so that I can help those going through the journey I once walked. Once again, I am grateful to my community for having the support needed to regain my life! Thank you, Maryland Family Resources! -Micheal M., Consumer.
